What is Copan swab used for?
eSwab® – Copan’s Liquid Amies Elution Swab – collection and transport system is our multipurpose media intended for the collection and transport of clinical specimens containing aerobes, anaerobes, fastidious bacteria, viruses and Chlamydia.

Copan Transysteme will maintain viability of many microorganisms for 24 to 48 hours. For fastidious bacteria, such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Streptococcus pneumonia and anaerobes, swab specimens should be p ated directly onto culture medium or transported immediately to the laboratory and cultured within 24 hours.
How do you culture K pneumoniae in Copan M40?
Rectal swabs were placed into Copan M40 Transystem™ containing Amies gel transport medium, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (Atlanta, Georgia) protocol was used to screen for CR gram-negative bacteria. Specimens collected from different surfaces in patient’s rooms by means of sterile rayon swabs were cultured for K. pneumoniae.
