R-22 and R-410A, while intended for the same type of appli- cations, are indeed very different refrigerants. This also explains why many of the tools, accessories and components used for R-22 cannot be used with R-410A. Pressure gauges and hoses need to be rated for the higher pressures, or they can be damaged.

Why should one be careful when purging a gauge manifold?
Contact with the gases being purged should be avoided. Oil and liquid refrigerant will sometimes escape during the purging process. Liquid refrigerant can cause frostbite. The high side is used to purge both sides of the manifold on systems whose low side is likely to be in a vacuum.

ANYONE can purchase and handle 410a. NO certification or license needed.
What pressure should 410A run at?
For R-410A, a working pressure capability of at least 400 psi is recommended (this includes recovery cylinders). Standard DOT recovery cylinders rated for 350 psi should not be used.
