Does film need to be developed before scanning?
Yes, it needs to be developed. No, a dark room is not necessary but a dark place for development is necessary to load the exposed film into a canister. The process you use will depend upon the film you have. If you are inexperienced at development, I suggest you take photos on a throw away roll or even 2 just to learn.
Is it better to digitize photos or negatives?
Scanning film, slides or negatives, will most always produce better digital images than scanning prints and photos. Slides & negatives are the original. If you have the option of scanning a negative instead of scanning a print made from the negative, we recommend scanning the negative.
How many megapixels is 7200dpi?
7200 dpi works out to be just about 70 megapixels for a full frame, 35mm slide. It’s interesting to note Plustek does not make digital cameras, unlike many other scanner manufacturers.
Do you need a dark room to scan film?
No darkroom or photo lab needed. Film is wonderful. Aside from being a technological miracle in which millions upon millions of microscopic silver halide crystals somehow capture a latent image, it’s a medium that will often dramatically improve the way you take photos.
Is it better to scan old negatives or old prints?
Is it better to scan or photograph a photo?
Scanning is simpler, faster and generally better than copying photos with a camera. The only exception is when there is a surface texture (e.g., silk surface) on the photo which requires offset lighting to overcome.
How do you convert dpi to megapixels?
A good quality picture for a photo album is printed at 300 dpi. To calculate the resolution in megapixels, multiply the number of pixels of length and width and divide them by mega (1 million)….Result.
